I cleared a paper jam under the cartridge, re-installed the cartridge about 20 times and it will no longer acknowledge that the cartridge is present (install cartridge is a constant message). There is no paper in any other section, the paper that was jammed came out cleanly in one piece. The print job was was from tray 2 and the registration-plate is in the correct position.

Would really appreciate advise from any member who has had a similar problem or knows why this is happening.

I would really appreciate any help.

Paper jam's are one issue people should be wary of , esspecially with modern printer's .

The golden rule is : Never try pullin paper jams free by hand .

Turn printer off , and back on , when roller's engage , you can then use some pressure and pull gently to clear jam .

Doing it any other way will cause issue's with the drive gear's , and printer will nolonger function correctly .

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

As for your "no cartridge error"

Check with your printer's manufacturer for how to reset the printer ... esspecially such thing's as printer count reset .

Another area , is you might have distrubed the printer head itself , and it is nolonger properly seated into position .

Remove cartridge , remove print head , check there is nothing in between the print head's electrical contact's and those on the printer itself , which I have seen before ... it dosent take much .

If clear , reinsert printhead , reinsert cartridge , power unit off .

Now perform "new ink cartridge install routine" , bypass the actual removal and reinsert of cartridge part , and allow printer to go through normal motion .

If now succesfull , proceed with software printer head clean , then alignment , followed by print test .

As with any electronic equipment , it should only be connected to an appropriate power board with spike protection ... otherwise your investment can easily be damaged .. which is not covered under warrantee .

Should this fail , as mentioned above , you should visit the printer's manufacturer for printer help ... canon and epson here in au do list the reset info .

Second last : Should all this fail , you may consider a possibility that the printer may be fine , but it may also be related to the printer software having the issue , which is another common problem .

Uninstall all associated product's that came with printer , then uninstall the driver's for it ... reboot pc .

Reinstall driver's for printer , and try accessing it once more .

Last : If this failed , try taking it to another pc and see if it work's there , if it dose , then something , either hardware or software on the original pc is in conflict and need's to be located and sorted .

Should printer still have issue on second pc ... then it's broken , and need's to be actually repaired ... if under warrantee , good ... if not , your up for a new one .
