  1. Hey all. I use a simple approach to my backing up first using DVD Decrypter to extract all files and decrypt all copy protection and then DVD Shrink to shrink or re-author and then DVD Decrypter to burn. I know this may sound time consuming (and it is) but for me it has proven to be a foolproof method with perfect results everytime.

Just lately though I have noticed that when using the re-author in DVD Shrink I have had identical, multiple titles in the main movie section. For example DVD Shrink will label title1 4,568mb, title2 4,568mb ect. I have had up to 3 "titles" show up which all appear to be of identical size and upon playing the file in the preview area they all seem the same.

My question is....is this a DVD Shrink bug? Can I in fact just choose one of the titles for re-authoring or is there something else I should know?

    Cheers....

  3. I've seen this before, but it's been awhile. Maybe it's listing a different title for each audio track instead of just one as it normally would? Regardless, it shouldn't make any difference since they're all the same content, as you point out. Just pick a track and the audio track(s) you want to keep and you should be fine I'd think.

Give it a try with just one of the tracks, then open the new output in DVD Shrink to see that it got backed up properly.

It probably is just rereading the same file based on the Menu programing. I've seen some DVD's in DVDShrink that were over 9gigs total which struck me as odd.

The way I see it is that some new DVD sturctures allow for viewing flexibility using the same source file, ie. watching a music video DVD and having the option to play all, or just one song and return to the menu instead of continuing from that point.

Looking at the files in Shrink, it looked like the there were 2 or sometimes 3 "copies" of the same songs when in reality it's probably just snagging a portion of the "play all" file.

I'm not sure what program they're using for these new DVD's, but it seems to have features that I can't get out of my DVD author tools.

  6. thanks again for the response. i have to agree with you as i have looked at all instances of these "multiple" main titles and when played they all seem to be the same in audio & video. Also as you stated the total mb of the files adds up to way more than 9gb which of course is not possible. When I have re-authored any of the multiple titles they seem to be fine so yeah...something to do with the DVD structure itself.

    Thanks again for the replies.

  7. Snatch has two titles: Widescreen and Fullscreen. They are almost the exact same size.
