i was sittin on my puter just kinda doin the normal thing. a yahoo im popped up that said "are u there, blah blah blah...check out my profile" so i go to click on an option to view profile but as soon as i did my computer restarts i thought it was kinda weird...when everything gets back up and running msn messenger is missing. the only thing showing is blank white boxes where msn messenger shortcuts used to be. and when i click on it gives me "incorrect parameter" which means it was basically uninstalled right? i dont really want to rule out anything but what the hell could have caused that besides getting hacked?

NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Actually it DOES sound like some kind of messenger virus, if you're lucky (?) it's just spyware. Update everything and run all the normal scans.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

hehe, it's kinda my fault. i was too lazy to upgrade to sp2, had the firewall and av updates flashin infront of my face for a couple days. thats the first thing i did after it happened was update everything i think messenger was pretty open for attack. ah well.

the last time i had a virus on my computer, i ended up formatting my hard drive and starting again clean. soon as WinXP was installed, i installed SP2, norton systemworks, adaware SE, and the enhanced firewall on my nforce4 motherboard as well as my firewall router.

Guess ive minised the chances of another virus attack, better to be safe than sorry.

crap, i am unable to access some websites (using either internet explorer or firefox) due to my nforce4 network access manager and firewall. ive tried to change the settings but no luck. the only way it works is to completely uninstall network access manager. thats one protection wasted.

ive even turned the nforce firewall off but still no luck. im sure there is a way but i cant figure it out, so i had to unistall it. anyway, i still do have a firewall router and SP2 firewall, should be enough. Its a pity that i cant use my motherboard firewall and security settings.

I also had problems accessing the net using firefox, msn messenger wouldn't work, but i changed the settings so they would work, and they did.

but some websites wont work, i have problems using ebay, and even posting topics in this forum. the website just hangs and does nothing.
