    A trojan has got onto my pc ( xp OS) will a full reformat destroy the trojan?

    Yes...but you shouldn't need to reformat.

    Go to www.trendmicro.com

    they have a free scan, and when it finds the virus, double click it and you'll go to a page that tells you all about the virus and how to remove it.
