  1. I have been using virtualdub to extract the audio from my videos but found that sometimes it was unable to do so for some video files. Hence I searched the net and discovered aoaaudioextractor which worked perfectly for any videos I sent to it. Just recently however my anti-virus software tagged aoaaudioextractor as a backdoor trojan and has quarantined it so I am looking again for some free audio extracting software that I can use when virtualdob fails me.
Can anyone recommend freeware that can pull .wavs from divx files?

avidemux, open the avi / divx, select audio->encoder and choose wav pcm and last audio->save.

Every second program? The impression I'd had was that it was worse than that.
(Yes, I KNOW there are people that will swear by AVG; I just constantly see false-positive reports generated by AVG.)

As for audio extractors, I use AVI2WAV, AVIDemux and VirtualDubMod. For OGM, MP4, MKV and FLV, I use the usual demuxers.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
