Sounds like you bought cheap discs.

For the most part, a high quality DVD+R and DVD-R discs will be the same.

The problem is, many retailers stock cheap brands of DVD-R discs. Like KHyper, and "store" brand names. Which are OEM'd by Princo, Optodisc, and low grade CMC.

With DVD-R you want to stick with brand name stuff, like Fuji, TDK, Maxell, Verbatim and so on. These are some of the better stuff.

Memorex DVD-R is not as good as the Memorex DVD+R.

Check the DVD Writer's comment section on the left, see what others say about the Sony 530.

The 530 is a rebadged Optowrite, so check comments for that writer too.

    Besides shop4tech, there's also www.rima.com , www.supermediastore.com , www.meritline.com . 1000's more, but those seem to be the biggest/most popular.

None that much better/cheaper than others, everyone has their favorite pick.

I choose Rima, and Prodisc 4x DVD-R media, and Taiyo Yuden 4x DVD-R media. Before you buy 100 packs, check the DVD Media results (also on the left), and try out a few sample packs from your vendor of choice to see what works best for you.

  7. In Hong Kong, branded + and - media are the same price. However, there are more unbranded - media available with cheaper price.
