  1. I've searched for a how to but can't find anything. This may be a dumb question, but what software do you use to capture minidv from a camcorder using a firewire cable?

    You should have some software with your camcorder. Just check the disks that should have been with the cam.

    Hey,
    I borrowed a friend's MiniDV camera. I noticed it has a usb port. Does anyone know how to capture the video through the usb? Can i use VDub?

    Without any further detail I would say no. USB2 is for streaming and images. For Video transfer you have only 1 option - firewire.

    Well then could i play the video in the camera and straem it into the computer as if it was live?

    The answer is: no (check your manual). Or maybe, try it, if you have too much spare time. Why not? And try to approach your cam at an angle so it can't see you...
