  1. I have a problem with the video being too bright on my DVD player but the original file on my computer is fine. I encode with Tmpegenc, not deinterlaced, with high quality settings (soften block noise, and little tricks suggested on this site from guides). I have toyed with the simple color correction, but I am unsure of what the settings do there. Does anyone know if I'm doing something wrong, or can direct me to a guide describing the simple color correction tool?

  2. Video captured from a analog source like a TV or VCR will always appear dark on your computer monitor. Color and brightness correction is only needed for when you are using the video for computer use... otherwise when played on a tv it will be to bright...

under the quantize tab-> special settings -> UNcheck "output YUV data as basic ....."

    Tv's are 16-235 , pc monitors are 0-255 ,

this is known as "clamping" 255 on a tv would be to bright , conversly 16 as black on a pc will look washed out a bit but appear as black on TV ..

broadcast NTSC is always clamped to these specs ..

if you need to - you can ->custom color correction - add YUV -> clip low/high -> set high to 235
