    Help will be greatly appreciated..

    Thanks in advance..

P.S. Is Arial Font the only option or Times New Roman can also be used?

  4. It's not about fonts, it's about width. A "normal" line of subtitles have 43-45 char.
You can test with MTKFontCreator (a free, visual and very easy to use program), witch font can be used. I test most windows fonts and only few can be used. Arial narrow is the best.
A line have ~ 640px. Set outline to 2px and space between char. to 0.
On my tv (26") I use a font with 43px height. If you have a big tv you can use a smaller font (30-35px).

For Turkish I make this version (for /37 model).

To whom it may concern... I had a difficult time to activate russian subtitles for AVI movie from USB. Now it's fine, what I did: Subtitle-Other-input code 1251, after go to General setup; DivX subtitle; activate MEDIUM size, not STANDARD !!!
All works. Hope it helps to somebody
    P.S. Used dvp5990_37_vp6_1.2.1_cp1251_usb.zip (from Shoora)

  10. I'm using the DVP5990_37_vb6_v1_2 firmware and it's absolutely great! Thanks!

[s:cc9372b746]I just have one question. With the original firmware, I could scroll page up/down using the next/previous buttons on the remote. With this mod firmware, that ability seems gone? I have a lot of files in the same folder, and being able to scroll pages would be so much faster. Is this still possible?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.[/s:cc9372b746]

Nevermind, it works just fine! My bad!

    kbehel,

The latest version that I know of for the 5990/37 USA player is linked to from this post:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/topic355675-30.html#1887508

The two files are in a rar archive on Rapidshare. Use the file in the main folder if you don't want the volume feature. The volume firmware file is in the ""Volume" subfolder if you want to use that one instead. I use the "non-volume" and it works fine (I adjust volume using my universal remote).

I just bought the dvp5990 and hooked up my external drive to it. Tv shows in particular for some reason are not in the proper order. I have them labeled 01 - name of episode, 02 - name of episode.....etc. Most of them will appear in order, but there is always a few out of order. Anyone know how to fix this? They appear in proper order when the drive is plugged in to my pc. Only when attached to the DVD player do some of them get out of order.

    Thanks so much Dude,

    You are the man..

    One small detail though;

Even before I had the chance to download, this warning came up

    Error
This file is neither allocated to a Premium Account, or a Collector's Account, and can therefore only be downloaded 10 times.

    This limit is reached.

To download this file, the uploader either needs to transfer this file into his/her Collector's Account, or upload the file again. The file can later be moved to a Collector's Account. The uploader just needs to click the delete link of the file to get further information.

Can I please ask you to post it again?

    Hi to RoMAniA..

That's due to FAT32 being used on your HDD. Check out this section 'What about file order in the file browser?' in my FAQ.

Kinda hard to believe that this is a media problem.
I've used several different types of cheap DL media and non seem to burn well. I haven't tried Verbatim but they are supposed to be the best for DL. I like to use hub printable media and Verbatim doesn't offer a hub printable DL. I keep trying various other brands and all have this issue. I have used 3 different burners, the latest being the Samsung SH-S203B and all have the same problem. The freezing issue is even worse when placing the break at a specified cell. I have the best results when burning at 1x and not manually placing the layer break.

I would try one Verbatim DL + disc and see if it makes any difference. It doesn't sound like you are saving money using cheaper discs if they don't work.

What do you mean by "hub" in this context? The only DL I've seen from Verbatim so far are printable.

    vb6rocod ..
Thanks for this modded firmware, looks great and easy to install (usb).

Using a ZDATA 640gb hd with backup vob files (shrink) which play like the disc, some lag between files, but otherwise is working great.

    Thanks again.

Are there any modded firmwares for the 5990 or 5992 that disable User Operation Prohibition? Or is that not practical with the chipset in question? It's much missed from my modded Sampo days.

    Thanks!

This firmware has DVD Quick Play which bypasses all the warnings.
