Bought this on eBay. It came with a cd disk and poor instructions. Window shows a small, 2 part screen with green background. I had a NTSC composite RCA source of still video. All that ever appeared was a small format of large pixels sensitive to light from the camera. There is no method to change from the small format(default). The maker does not state the screen formats availiable?? All-in-all you should not buy this without more investigation.

As they like to tell me in Texas.
This ad seems to be all hat and no cattle. In other words urban cowboy.
"Supports high resolution still image capture at 640 x 480 "
In Australia, standard definition is 768x576. This device may make 352x288 real time but they don't want to say.
We could go on to deconstruct this thing. Get something better.

Hi namit
I just bought one of these EasyCAP devices off ebay and the the install CD gave errors and wouldn't load. I followed your link to the manufacturer and downloaded the Vista64 drivers for OTH001. After expanding the WinRAR file Vista still couldn't find the drivers.
Any ideas?

I see this device on Ebay a lot and wonder if the conversion from VHS (etc) to MPEG2 (DVD standard) is done by software or the hardware. How real time is this device really?
I've read that the Dazzle DVD USB device has the hardware onboard that converts the material which in my opinion sounds like a better option but I can be totally wrong here.

Hi, I guess I'm one of the few who got great results with this Easycap device. I installed the drivers, plugged it in, and everything worked out of the box with an IBM T42 laptop. After some testing, I found that with Ulead Videostudio and the 1.70 gHz Pentium M processor I was able to encode to 6000 kbps (constant bitrate), which gave really nice image quality! However, I didn't try to record with the Easycap audio plug. I used the sound card instead.

Hi Jeepee2. Could you (or anyone else that knows??) please tell me exactly how you "encode to 6000 kbps (constant bitrate), which gave really nice image quality"
I've got the EasyCAP device too, and after pulling my hair out for hours due to their pathetic lack of instructions about video capture (I'm capturing VHS tapes off VCR), I figured it out. But, can only produce average quality footage, even though the tapes themselves still look good on the TV.
So far only managed to capture in WMV file. Doesn't look good on TV screen after I burn DVD. I converted the files to MPG and made another disc, but doesn't look any different.
My previous attempts with AVI and anything else seemed to either give me a final file with sound but no picture, or vice versa.
Anyway, I've got sound and pics now. Just need to improve the pic quality!
Thanks for any help

Dear kokky
You need to change your Sound device as the USB Audio Device (Name may be different in DC60 DC60+ ) As default you have your sound card device selected in there. If it is not allowed to change you need to exit the sound card control icon in your system tray (Bottom right hand corner of the desktop near to the system clock)
Right Click on my computer>>Properties>>Hardware>>Device Manger
Make sure you have “easycap” under sound, Video and game controllers
(If there is a yellow mark on easy cap or under USB devices >>right click on that and click on uninstall then click on action at the top and say scan for hardware changes.)
go to start>>control panel>>sound and audio devices
Make sure easycap USB is selected under sound recording
Then Go to programs>>Windows Movie Maker
Click on Capture from video device
Select easycap as your audio device>>next>>next>>next>>start capture
Now you can enjoy the DVD Quality capture!

hi I know this is a long shot - but I am in desperate need of a product key. Does anybody know where I can find one for Ulead VideoStudio Se? - the software that comes with the easycap?
I cannot for the life of me find it - i have a feeling my puppy got ahold it and decided it was dessert.
thanks so much for the help!

alishox, asking for a product key here could be considered asking for Warez and a violation of our rules. Please read our rules before posting. https://forum.videohelp.com/topic124514.html
The version of Ulead you have is probably a crippled trial version and you would be better off with the full version.
And welcome to our forums.

hi, i also bought this usb capture device from e-bay. my problem is the sound. i keep getting a screeching and buzzing sound and cannot get it to stop. i've tried connetcting the the cables to the on board sound card, but no succes(actually no sound at all in this manner).
Also the device is reecognised as "syntek STK 1160". In the device manager it is listed under "Imaging Devices", and the audio section, I only get " USB Audio Devices".
any ideas please.

You are right! I really appreciate your posting about easycap dc60+, Because of your post I bought it from ebay and it works great, more than I expected. I converted all of my VHS Library (near 200) VHS tapes in to DVDs and cleaned my room. Now I got them on disks and no need to worry about fungus or damages. They provided the genuine licence for VideoGlide (www.echofx.com/videoglide.html) which is valued at 29.90$. Thanks heaps, mate.

I bought this unit and WOW its the best thing ever. When you use it you must make sure that all the settings are set correctly.
In order to get excellent results you need to set DVD picture quality in the captue options in ULEAD video studio SE that comes with easy cap. Make sure that you set the correct screen resolution also. At first I had all the audio settings wrongly set, and man you get some very scratchy audio happenning.
You have to set the easy cap as the default recording device in order for it to work. My audio is crystal clear and work perfectly now. The picture quality is excellent and I love the settings for sharpness contrast and saturation that can be set before capture. Although not essential to do this ULEAD videostudio SE will allow for these adjustments in the editing field.
To me this little handsome unit is the best "capture Card" and I just love the size of it and its easily transportable as well. Well worth the price of ebay in fact its a real give away for the software alone is worth a couple hundred dollars in itself. Its absolutely fantastic! Love it. Serial number for Ulead is stamped on the paper cover of the cd. Simple as!

i would stay away from units like both the dazzle & easycap, try one of the canopus dvc's nothing beats them!

I got this unit just a couple of days ago and have had some issues with audio but this was because i had my default recording function set to front microphone as being the reason. Well let me tell you al no matter what anyone says its simply a brilliant little unit. I used it all day today and it performs absolutely magnificent. I am very pleased with it and over whelmed by the price of it. It actually cost me a massive $17.99 Australian dollars (lol) but with postage it totalled a grand total of $31.00 Australian. They sent it promptly and thanks to those in China for making this available.
So those of you who have soopa doopa units well thats fair enough and that sounds cool but how can one lose on buying this fantastic Easy Capture device as a portable take anywhere unit. I have a laptop also thats just dying to meet this grabber. In fact I reckon this should sell for $300.00 as its worth it with the bundled software you get with it. The serial is stamped on the cd wallet. That in itself is professional ULEAD videostudio SE. Ive also got ulead video studio PLUS on my computer and that has the added benefit of saving your work using the smart package option. SE doesnt have this but with care your files are easily archived.
So for any of you that feel this is to good to be true well then that is a fact. You really cant lose a fairdinkum bargain. Ive used it and let me tell you its honky dory mate! Just love it. What a capture card. Portable and all. No two if's about it.

Hi, i too have the problem of no sound - image appears fine. I am trying to trransfer my hi8 tapes. A werid problem is that when i capture the image, the MUTE function displays on the bottom of the screen, but i have not chosen to mute anything!! I have tried all the suggested fixes, to no avail!
