I tried demuxing some stuff with two apps - pvastrumento, and projectX.

Both apps read the commercials perfectly, but misread most of the program that I want to edit.

Is there a setting to change how 'strictly' the file is read, or are both of these apps just not good for editing?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Misread what? are you trying to remove commercials automatically or? Or do you mean that you can't cut exactly where you want???

The programs are 30 minute programs. I want to cut the commercials. After demultiplexing, and opening them with the editing app, I had a 7 minute video file, and a 7 minute audio file.

The commercials came through the demux-er perfectly, but many frames of the program are missing.

The other demux program did almost the same thing - perfect commercials, and many frames missing from the desired content.

    Thanks

Are they MPEG Transport Stream Files ? Run them through Mpeg2repair before demuxing them.

How about a little more information about the process you are using. I use projectX to demux and Cuttermaran to remove commercials from recorded programs with fast and excellent results. What is the source of these programs? Were they captured and if so, what were they captured with? What format are they in before demuxing? What settings did you use in ProjectX? The more information you provide the easier it will be to help you.

I think the answer to this question is yes - they are MPEG2 .tsp format.

I'll run the files through the repair program, and see what cooks...

    Thanks

    EDIT:
I tried projectx, and pvistrumento. Both gave almost exactly the same results - tons of frames dropped from the program, and a identical 7 minute audio and video files.

They're d'loaded files from DVR HD, in .TSP format. Un-edited viewing with Media Player Classic on the PC is perfect. Would they still need 'repair'???

    Will try the repair program...

Mpeg2Repair strips out the non-HD subchannels or PIDs . Many Mpeg editing/cutting apps get confused when there is more than one video track in a file. Try scrolling through a TSP in ProjectX - you'll see it jump all over the place. You can remove the unneeded PIDs within ProjectX itself, but the process is...for lack of a better word...yucky.

Alright!!! I got the app downloaded.

    Where's the app launch?

Or where is the user's guide for this version of ProjectX???

I'll be explaining string theory in swahili before these files are edited .
