Ok, I hate to ask this because I know it has been covered before but I cant seem to find what I need. Here goes...
We all know Recode and Shrink dont do forced subtitles, and DVD2ONE is supposed to, but doesn't (@ least not for me). Now I know there are ways to do this, but they all seem too complicated. I know I sound lazy but I dont want to learn how to use 3 or 4 new programs (Ifoedit, subrip, etc.) as described here and on Doom9 to do this one thing for a few movies; its just not worth it to me.
Is there a simple way to get forced subtitles like those of Kill Bill, Last Sam., LOTR, etc., on DVDR by using a simple 1 or 2 step process (other than using the remote)?
thanx y'all

Hmm... I have also heard that DVDshrink does not do forced subtitles, yet just yesterday I backed up Last Samarai <movie only> and it had the forced subtitles even though I hadn't selected any of them to be included. I have the lastest version of DVDshrink. I would try dvdshrink if I were you. It worked for me.

I just use a dvd recorder, turn on subs in the player & play, push record on the recorder, whole film has subs on it. Easy as pie.

ok thanx for the replies guys...my version of Shrink dont do it, i guess i'll update it.
as for the recorder solution...thats a problem for me b/c i dont have one :P -
What are "forced subtitles"? All my full disc backups done with DVD Shrink start with subtitles. I managed to turn disable this when in reauthor mode. But the option is grayed out in full disc. This is really annoying since I never use subtitles. Anyone can help? Is this what yous are talking about?

Now, when i use Recode or DVD2ONE and make sure these streams are included, they are in the .vobs but they dont play automatically. This is the problem, i have to turn them on using the remote which can be a real pain in the ass or impossible in some cases. Im working on using Shrink to fix this. Ooohhhh. Ok. Never ran into that problem myself cause I only watch movies where people always speak English.
If there is time, can anybody help me with my problem too?

OK, i figured this out for Shrink. you just add ur title (main movie), right click on it once its in the DVD structure window, and click set default streams. under subpicture you click the "display the following subpic stream" then the first english one is the one i need in my case; you may have to play the movie in WinDVD, etc. to find out which stream u need.

As for your problem tho, if u use shrink, i would recomend that you try this: you just add ur title (main movie), right click on it once its in the DVD structure window, and click set default streams. under subpicture you click "hide subpicture"Yellow-Haired Warrior...Go -

My mistake, i didnt read your problem right, i just noticed u said when you make full disc back-ups you have the problem. dont know a way around that one...seems like it should not be happening in the first place. do u have this problem on multiple players? could be a screwy standalone? who knows man, g'luck.Yellow-Haired Warrior...Go -
Thanks for the advise. I don't like movies very much, I mostly backup TV show seasons and concerts on DVD. I still can't get it to work in full disc mode. When I right-click the parts of the DVD, the only option that isn't grayed out is COPY. Anybody else have any suggestions?

@888888
Try this with ifoedit before burning:
With IFOEdit, open VIDEO_TS.IFO/VMGM_MAT/First Play PGC.
Right click on 1.Pre Command
Choose Insert Command
Right click on 1.Pre Command
Choose edit command
Select (SetSTN)Set Subpicture Stream Nr Stream = 0
Save file.
This will turn off the subtitles at startup.
