Subtitle Edit help

I'm trying to use Subtitle Edit to correct .vtt files which, as supplied by the video creators, have endless duplicated lines (see attached), but I can't work out how to do it. Can anyone help?

Try saving it as srt instead of vtt.

If you check the .rar file .
The lines are not duplicates.They are partial duplicates & that's the problem.
The link davenet posted will work but it amounts to manually editing.
You can do that from the main GUI.

Have tried - doesn't help.

Manually deleting the short subtitles is a waste of time.
I would try a different approach.
Create the subtitles yourself using one of the Whisper Applications (Subtitle Edit have them).
Video > Audio to Text (Whisper)
It shouldn't take you a long time because your file goes up to about 11 minutes.

But this applies to all vtts I download, even with long movies. I can't understand what programs these videos are meant to be played on, none of the usual ones can play them without the duplicated line problems, converting to srt doesn't help, and converting the files to videos gives the same problem. It's madness!

You can save it as a text file Whisper Raw 2 and sort at position 20 (Characters) using Text Pad.
It will be easier for you to do the deleting when it is a text file.
After that save it as srt file.

What website are you downloading the subtitles from ?
Does it have other subtitle formats?
I rarely download subtitles but the ones I have downloaded are not like the ones you download.

No player will play without the duplicated subtitles. You can either live with it or delete them.
Is the website creating subtitles live or the subtitles are embedded in the video files which you stream?
For example on medici TV some operas are creating the subtitles live in so many languages it is so weird.
