I'm having problems with MPEG-VCR. Periodicly when I cut comercials the video and audio are out of sync. Since I only get this periodicaly on long recordings (sometimes several hours of recording) I don't see this all the time. I'm having a hard time finding a pattern that I can repeat. Once I have a recording that when I cut comercials the video and audio are out of sync I can repeat it.
Since I've noticed this problem I've been using my the program "TEMPGEnc DVD Authoring" to cut comercial. But it will only cut on what I think is the begging of the GOP frame and it would be nice to have a finer trimming ability.
I've been grazing here for several months now getting ideas on what software to use and what final format I want. I've searched in the past for answers to my problem w/o any luck.
I've had my AIW7500 for over 1 year and recorded shows for later viewing (before I got a PVR). Now I'm trying to put shows on DVD at a reduced quality that I find acceptable. I can get 8 1 hour episodes/DVD w/ the format I've chosen, and it is better than my VHS tapes to boot. I consider myself to be a novice re: copying to DVD.
I've used the information on www.digitalfaq.com for my starting point. I've tried to cull as much from that site and this to help me setup and use my puter. But now I need some furthur help.
Also I've been capturing/editing/authoring on my sisters system (below is configuration) and not seen this problem. But on this system I am mainly copying VHS tapes that have the comercials cut during recording. So I don't have to cut comercials which is where I see the periodic problems w/ the ATI AIW7500 recorded files.
I'm using
MPEG-VCR V3.14 (MPEG-2)(06/2004)
