Hi. I received some xvid videos from a relative from a family member. The videos were out of sync. In VLC's advanced audio settings i set the audio syncronization compensation settings to 5 and it was back in sync. How do i re-encode the video so that change is permanent?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

QTSync (free) works for QuickTIme videos:

  3. You can use avidemux to resync but a + difference in VLC corresponds to a - one in avidemux.

Launch avdmx, leave the Video and Audio options on the left as copy, check the shift box below Audio and enter the correct compensation. If your movie has more than one soundtrack you'll need to select the rrequired one from the Audio tab in avdmx's menu bar but I believe you get a prompt if that's the case anyway.

Sorry, but avidemux in my experience is very buggy on my mac. It crashes when you try and import a video

Another vote for QTSync. Wonderful app (although a better user interface would be welcomed).
