  1. hi everybody!

i've edited a video in FCP (for there you know i'm using MAC) in HD with 30fps (i filmed on the canon 5D which makes 30fps not th usual 29.97...). i exported the clip to a quicktime with animation codec and put this into ffmpeg.

    mp4 with H264 (x264)

the result is not what i expected: the colors are darker and audio seems to run out of sync. the information-window in quicktime, says that the file-framerate ist 29.97 which could explain, why things are running out of sync. but i set the framerate zu 30fps...

i also thought of using the command-line-version but i am not that computer-guy to handle so much options... ;-((

    can anybody help?

Moving you to our Mac section.

You can also try convert to mp4 h264 using handbrake, mpeg streamclip or avidemux. All FREE.

The darkness is a known issue with ffmpeg conversion. When I use MPEG Streamclip, I sometimes use the tools it provides in its MP4/H264 conversion window to brighten the video about 10% and add 20% to the saturation. YMMV.

  5. i've tried that too, but hey: i'm not doing my color correction with state of the art-tools to deliver a file, with some vague corrections in the end... (

    any idea of the not-in-sync-cause?

As Baldrick has mentioned, Handbrake might do the job. I use it and haven't found the same darkness issues. It also seems to do a proper job of AV sync.
