If you can live with a XVCD then download next's/Stinky's solution from Tools->Capture->ATI AIW MMC REG Tool. Up the bitrate to around 2.0 mb/s and try VBR. This may require a fast CPU for best results.
For a sharper image try XSVCD by capturing to MPEG-2 and burn with Nero 5.5. This also requires a DVD player that can play this or the previous XVCD.
As a last resort and if you have the time, capture to a hi-res, high bitrate MPEG-2 file and convert to a compliant VCD or SVCD with DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc. -
Having problems with my new card too. I recorded Babylon 5 off Sci-fi last night. It is broadcast in Widescreen Format. It played back just fine on the ATI. I ran it through DVD2AVI and I get this thing that looks like it went through the house of mirrors. It was stretched and distorted badly. Suggestions?
