    I've been using that but it gives me an overall bitrate and doesn't tell me if it's CBR or VBR...thanks though.

    Very nice. It's even telling me that some of my MPEG-2 files are bad (which helps explain why they result in bad DVDs, a recurring problem with some bad video sources).
