  1. Anyone use this? I just recently ordered some. I usually use ritek g03 and they work great, but the g04 were about the same price and included free shipping, so i got these.

I have a cendyne a04 dreive with the hacked 1.31 firmware, and it burns GO3 at 2x no problem, but will it burn the GO4 fine, or do i need new firmware?

I also have a AO5 in my other computer and it says it will burn 4x straight out of the box right?

I just don't want to fry my burner.

    Thanks.

  2. Actually, everyone uses this media (okay, not everyone, but pretty close). You may need to update your firmware on the a04, but the a05 should burn at 4x without any updates.

  3. I use Ritek G04 and I believe that it is the best media for its price. So far I have used about 100 discs and have not had one bad disc burning at 4x

  4. As far as updating. I want the option to still be able to burn G03 discs at 2x, so if i update then will the G03 discs go back to 1x?

Also is the firmware update required for 4x burning, or simply to use the 4x discs? I really don't care abotu burning at 4x on the a04, i just want to be able to burn period.

Simple Question. Do i have to update firmware on A04 to use G04 discs at any speed?

  5. If you look at any of the websites that sell media, there is a warning that it may ruin your drive if you try to burn 4x media on the 103 or 104 without updating the firmware. Your firmware may already be updated, but to be safe, I would check with the manufacturer. The discs will not burn at 4x regardless of what you do, but you may need the update to ensure that you don't ruin your drive.

As far as burning the G03's at 2x, do you have a hacked firmware? Because I couldn't burn those at 2x until I hacked my firmware. If your current firmware is up to date, you should be fine, but it's definately something you want to check out before you start trying to use 4x media in your burner.

My BTC sees G03 as 2x. Burns G04 at 4x.

My 103 sees G03 as 1x (will burn 2x with hack). See G04 as 2x. Be sure to use newer firmwares that allow 4x media.

    My 105 see G04 as 4x. Has G03 as 1x (or 2x with hack).

I buy these discs 100 at a time. Excellent media.

I don't suggest hacks. Just buy better media.

  7. Anyone have any ideas of where to pick this media up cheap? By chance locally in Atlanta, or mail-order?

Also, I have had some tough times using compusa brand dvd-r. They only randomly seem to work in my home dvd players...I am using the latest nero (6.302) for everything.

    thanks

The CompUSA DVD-R disks are Princo discs and pretty iffy under any store brand name. I have burned them successfully, but if it is something important to you, I would go to better media.

The only local place I know of is Microcenter in Marietta, has the 5 packs of TDK 2x for 5.99 plus tax and they are the ritekg04. I picked up 50 last week. You can but them online then go and pick them up.
