Hate to ask dumb questions but I am not doing very well at figuring this out. Trying to set up GSA-4040B to handle RAM disks, ideally to work with my 100H. Am I correct in assuming the recording format of the 100H is UDF 2.0 (I know that I will need authoring software regardless to work with disks recorded in the Panasonic)? Secondly, in trying to format a RAM disk in the 4040B (by right-clicking on the drive under "My computer") I do not get a format choice box (as the instructions say) but rather only an "InCD format " option which does not allow format selection. I assume this is part of Nero 6 which I have installed but how do I get around this?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

See the link:

and it's confirmed that the LG GSA-4040B can only read, not write 2.6/5.2GB RAM discs. You also have to install the RAM drivers if you want to format UDF 2.0 discs. -
Thanks Synergy. I had actually already read that thread several times but still can't figure it out. I have reinstalled the RAM driver several times--at the last step where it says searching for installed DVD-RAM devices it completes that step but doesn't say whether it found any (should it?). Then when I put in a disk (a Panasonic DVD-RAM) and right-click on the drive icon I only get the "InCD format" and "InCD erase" options (not the DVDForm utility all the posts mention). If I choose either one it says that no disk is inserted.
Just can't figure out what I am doing wrong!
THanks again,

Try disabling the InCD program, or better yet remove it. Then reinstall the RAM driver again. You can also find the DVDForm by clicking start button, then All Programs if the drivers are installed properly.Originally Posted by nextlife1

Thanks Synergy--with your suggestions I got it working!!! One problem was that I did not realize that the 4040B would be listed on my PC as a "Removable drive" for the DVD-RAM function and as a "CD drive" for everything else. So I had not noticed that a new removable drive icon had been added (since I already have two for other stuff). At any rate it looks like it will now work just fine.
I really appreciate the help!
