  1. I mistakenly did a pull down on 29.97 fps MPEG-2 files. How do I reverse this procedure? The MPEG-2 video became longer and is out of sync with the audio now.

If it was a hard pulldown you have to do a IVTC and re-encode.
if not you can run restream or pulldown

edit: did the file size get bigger or display time ?

  4. the files size stays the same but the play time got longer.

All I did is use pulldown.exe and use the command line
    pulldown xxxx.mpv xxxx.m2v

I tried the NORFF option but the play time did not reduce back to its original state. And what is IVTC?

Are you saying there's no hope? I'll have to reencode then.

You are in luck. You have a soft pulldown.
Restream will fix that. I think pulldown will too
Get the GUI version of pulldown.

IVTC InVerse TeleCine: Take 5 frames and make 4 out of them.

You not only have to get rid of the flags but change the frame rate
also. the NORFF may have fixed the flags but not the frame rate.

  7. I have both restream and woofsoft pulldown but I'm not sure what settings to check. The orginal MPEG2 file has a 29.97 fps, I don't know what is the frame rate after I did the pull down. is it still 29.97 or something else? What frame rate do i have to change it to now? 29.97 fps? Can these 2 programs do IVTC InVerse TeleCine as well?

I just looked at Restream with a file that did NOT have
soft pulldown. I'm sorry to say I don't see anything about
    the TFF/RFF flags
Here is a shot of pulldwn

Where's Adam ? He knows this stuff .
    How about
    1. Open file in Vdub and see what the frame rate is
    2. Run Restream and force it to 29.97

  11. The frame rate is 29.97 fps on both the original file and the pulldowned file. You can try this test. Create a 29.97 fps MPEG-2 clip, pulldown it, you will see that the play time is lengthened, now what can you do to the pulldowned file so the play time goes back to the original. Stripping the RFFs didn't work for me. Could it be the pulldown is irreversible when done on a 29.97 fps MPEG-2?
