you guys are pros, me I'm just starting to try and use this so I appreciate all newbie help.

    1) I have downloaded mpg files. Out of 11, only two will drag into Toast, and convert fine into VCD.The ones that don't work it says "Please use the VCD option in your MPEG enoder/multiplexer" Why is this?

    2) How do I configure ffmpegX 0.0.7c to allow toast to accept them?

    3) (How) can I cofigure avi, mov and wmv files to be burned to VCD

    4) If you could word this in the simplist way possible, that would be great. I have tried all day to get this to work with no luck whatsoever. Thanks guys/girls!

It means your MPEG file is not VCD compliant and so it is not accepted by Toast.

Use version 0.0.7d. Select the "Tools" tab, select your mpg file in the first Browse.. field, select "Author as VCD" and click "Author". The resulting .bin file should be accepted by Toast in VCD mode, though since it is not compliant some DVD players will not play it.

Choose the VCD preset and encode them.

Wow, It is that easy. I was reading some other post using different programs to convert and I was attempting to encode instead of using Author. Thank you very much. I'm a beer rep for a Microbrewery in real life , so if you ever need a beer in Toronto, Cheers!

Nothing in this world is that easy!

Well, I converted the files to vcd and threw the .bin in the toast window and....No, It's not that easy.

Most of the 70% mpg I author will only read up to 1.5 mbs instead the 111.5 it should be for a 12 minute show (It takes half a second then says it is "Finished").

Also when I put the ones that are the proper size in toast, They do not seperate and just pile up as one file, and when I make make a VCD it does not work, and when I hit Select in the VCD burn screen it does not show any files.

Can I re Author files as mpeg and get them to work in toast?

any suggestions to what I am not doing right would be more than greatly appreciated.

  5. Hey is there a guide somewhere on how to do this properly, there seems to be little help for a layman such as myself here.

Well if anyone else has this problem and thought they get get it solved here...good luck searching!

  6. When you got a mpeg-1 file which is not VCD compliant, you can either

    - try to just author it as said before (but some files will not play either, depending on your player and the level of non-compliancy)
    - reencode the file again by using the VCD preset.
