    Now a real question

I have a movie that is split in 3 VOBs on the original DVD. The third part even has trailers in it at the ending. But i want to make 2 VCDs or SVCDs from it. Is it possible to make 3 MPEG files, cut the unwanted stuff from the third, then join the the rest and after that cut the resulting file again in 2 parts?
Or is there another, better way to do it?

Myself I have never needed to rip a DVD so I don't know for sure, but....

Both TMPGEnc and MPEG2VCR should be able handle it. I know it works on MPEG files, and both programs say they can read VOB files.

But in TMPGEnc, I would only do two VOBs at a time, when merging more than 2 clips, I have had sync erors.

You could also look in the tools area for VOB Edit.

Yes.. there is You should be using the program OSEx (to be found on versiontracker.com). This program detectss wether a DVD is inserted or not. If it finds a DVD the program will give you the option wich Title you would like to use.. The longest one is useally the movie. Choose that, choose which chapters you want to have, which subs, which audio stream, which video stream (normally you can choose just one.) and rip!
