  1. All DVD’s start to play then fail when the DVD menu wants (starts) to appear. This is true from both DVD’s in the DVD Drive and from *.vob files from the hard drive. In the case of the VOB files (extracted with ‘SmartRipper 2.41’ just fine) it ONLY fails on the first of the set that includes the interactive menu, otherwise all the other *.vob’s play just fine. I was ripping and converting files to MPEG-2 all dame weekend using TMPGEnc.

This happened with all DVD Players including Win Media Player, WinDVD v4 and a couple of other bundled players with DVD’d. All respond in the same way.

Tried disabling hyper threading, fast writes, write combining and reduced hardware acceleration and so on. Tried different video drivers as well (Cat 3.4 and 3.5 drivers for WinXP).

    WinXP reporting errors:

    WinDVD MFC Application
    AppName: windvd.exe AppVer: 4.0.5.43 ModName: gpiproxy.dll
    ModVer: 4.0.5.43 Offset: 0013e775
