    hi
    i bought bigger sata2 hdd and i have cloned my system (devided to C-winboot D-data) to new bigger hdd with seawizard program.
    everything was ok and now i need to format older hdd and remove everything on it.
    how do i do it easily in windows? how to format those 2 partitions on hdd to just one?
    can i connect both system hdds (new and older) and just format old one?
    or do i have to remove new cloned hdd and boot older and format it itself somehow?

    thanks for help

    If you want to format the old drive with its original 2 partitions, then right click the icon and choose format.
    If you want to combine the two partitions to create one, then you need to delete the old partitions before you format the drive. Do the following.

    Start-->Control Panel-->Performance and Maintenance-->Administrative Tools-->Computer Management-->Storage-->Disk Management (Local)-->Mouse right button click for delete/format/create partition

    yes, but make sure the computer start from is the new drive before you format the old one. Some motherboard will allow you to choose the drive to boot up by pressing certain keys stroke during boot up. Or you can can change the new hard drive to the lowest SATA connection number.

    I suspect that this means you are still booting from the old system disk

  5. Make sure you boot OK with only new HD in system, then disconnect and put in old HD.

    Boot XP CD, delete partitions, create partition, format.

    Never, EVER, do this with multiple HD in place. While it is not hard to do the format with more than one HD, it is way too easy to format the wrong one.

    For instance, partition 1 on drive 1 will be C, partition 1 on drive 2 will be D, partition 2 on drive 1 will be E. They alternate.
