For some reason,my computer does not burn VCD/SVCD that will play on my Stabdalone DVD player, even thought it used to a couple of weeks ago.

I asked a number of people, tried various media and tried every setting on various burning software, nothing works.

The VCD/SVCD still playon my computer and Apex DVD player but not on my Sony now. The "Bad" VCD/SVCD look different than the "good" one I burned before, they are lighter in color at the rims after burning.

Anyone ever see anything like this?

I was doing great with VCD/SVCDs for a while then suddenly no more Sony DVD player compliant ones, I put it in andht eSony DVD player says "insert disc". No error it is just not there.

Problem is your SONY dvd-player. It's commonly known that Sony doesn't accept cdr/cdrw - if it should to, contact your dvd-supplier.

If you don't trust the burning process of a (s)vcd, then burn at a lower speed. I've had some strange rusults in the past (with cdrDAO) when I burned at a speed too high (like 16x). When I lowered the speed to 12x or even 8x, the disks were 'normal' again...

It is not the Sony DVD player. I was have been burning VCD/SVCD that played in the Same Sony player with no problems, with the same sofware and media.

I has to be a windows problem. Like we mentioned above, the CD-R that were burned after the problem started actuall look different now.

Tried burning at all speeds too, no good.

Found another person on the forum with the same problems using different , player, hardware and software. This has got to be a change in the way our CD-Rs are being burned.
