perhaps TMPGEnc with QTReader, or perhaps Total Recorder...

you can drop it into soundforge or vegas video (as long as you have installed the qt player) and save it out as whatever ...

i think you can also do this in QT pro

there is no way to do anything with QT Pro. i have it and there is no way to make a mp3 or wav file using that. what did you mean install qtreader? its just a file that you paste in a folder. there isnt anything to install

i tried export and it doesnt work. it only let me save as mov file. and if i try to change it to wav by just typing wav it doesnt make it a real wav file. i tried tmpgenc and that works but just for teh video not the audio. there is no audio at all

To check, I just did an export with QT pro player, just fine. Let's break this down to make sure it'll work.

    1. Are you sure you've got QT pro? If you do, it'll have "SAVE" and "EXPORT" as available options in the file menu. If they aren't there, you don't have QT pro and you can't do much of anything except spend the $29 and upgrade to QT pro.

    2. If this is something downloaded, it could have been compressed with something that doesn't allow exporting/saving, such as MP4/AAC (set during encode) or Mpeg Audio (QT doesn't have tools to demux and decode this).

    3. Also, if this is something downloaded, it could be just a reference movie/redirector. How big is the file? If it's less than a couple of MB, it probably wouldn't be the true movie. So open it up with a text editor, read where the actual source file really resides, and download it directly--by pasting it into your browser.

    4. You do have audio in your movie, right? (Sorry, had to ask)

    5. By now, you should have something exportable. Just do this:
[ File | Export | Export: Sound to Wave ], name your file, check your options and [ Save ].

    Another question:
Is the MOV from a Digital Camera? I had prob with audio in this instance (from Kodak DC) due to protected/encryted MOV file. But, as mentioned, Total Recorder worked fine for me.

    What is your source?
Maybe try same techniques described above on a movie trailer or some othe MOV file to see if it is just your MOV that is the prob.

doesnt say reg info there -- only in the drop down reg box in your control panel qt settings .. of course if your are using a "bad" reg info -- it prob is blacklisted or something ..

no -- doesnt say anything about qt 6 pro in about box -- and you do need a valid code or it will not work .

it finally worked. i think that the code i had last time was probably something a lot of people used so i just hit a bunch of random keys and i was able to save as a wav. thanks a lot for your help, really appreciate it!

This is the situation that I have. Is there a workaround this. I can never get Total Recorder to sync up right. Is there not a program out there that can just rip the mp4 audio?

There may be something to rip this, but if Total Recorder doesn't work, I wouldn't waste too much time trying to figure out a conversion path.

I would just resort to the Low-tech way of taking the output of the sound card and capping it with another computer, or even looping back into the sound card. You do have to have a full duplex sound card to do this, but then 90% of new cards are.

If you do want to stay digital, maybe something on the Rarewares site could help you.
