I just installed the program and I am trying to convert the above files

Run the conversion, and in the program the preview plays the file perfectly.

However, when I try to play it through other Mac Player like Quicktime, and Streamclip there is no audio.

What am I doing wrong. There are so many options how do I know what to set for the converted file?

    Thanks

QuickTime Player is known for not letting you hear AC3 audio in MPEG-2 files, but MPEG Streamclip should provide its own solution for that...
Does the converted file play okay in VLC?

I do not have that program. However, StreamClip did not play the audio.

I re did the conversion and set audio to MPEG2 and it played in all players.

I guess I don't understand how the audio is stored in .mov and .dv files. I had thought that when I converted the video the audio would convert without problems. On the 2nd try I tried to the Pass Through audio option. I am not sure what that does but after that the file would not play audio or video, would not load.

Anyway, it looks like a good program if I can figure how to use it.

I will pay the shareware fee.

    Thanks

VLC is a free download, and an excellent player; that is, it plays a very wide variety of files, without having to install additional components. It has quite good error recovery, meaning it will often play files that have minor errors, where other players refuse to play the file. It is my default media player.

Well done. I would like to point out that ".mp2" audio is usually not MPEG-2, but MPEG-1 layer 2 audio.

The only important part is if ffmpeg can read the audio. If it can read (decode) it, then it can convert it. The left side of the Summary tab should show how ffmpegX recognizes the audio in your source file (PCM, AAC, MP3, etc.).

The Passthrough option will copy the stream from the source file without converting. This may result in weird things as the audio codec in the source file may not be legal in the output file. Use it only if you know that the output format supports it.

This forum should help with that. Feel free to post questions as they arise.

The developer encourages you to try the program until you are satisfied that it meets your needs, before registering.
