  1. Hi, I downloaded the "Large" guided tour for the MacBook Air from the Apple website:
    http://movies.apple.com/movies/us/apple/mac/macbookair/2008/apple_macbookair_guidedtou...15_848x528.zip

It's a 184MB MOV file. When I try to play it with Quicktime Player it shows video but no audio. Just to discard problems with my Quicktime Player I upgraded to the latest version (v7.4 with latest updates) and downloaded other MOV files to test and it plays them fine with both audio and video, so the problem seems to be with this file alone. Mediainfo shows the details attached below for the file. Anyone can provide a clue as to what's causing this? Thanks.

I don't why it wont work in quicktime 7.4 but it works fine in mpc with quicktime alternative.

  3. Baldrick, I have not tested yet quicktime alternative as installation requires quicktime player to be uninstalled.
I tested playing the Ipod sized Guided tour of the same video (22MB) and surprisingly my Quicktime Player plays it fine (with audio). I checked it with Mediainfo and the Audio component is also AAC LC, 2 channels but 24KHz instead of 32. Maybe Quicktime is having trouble with 32KHz?

  4. Try to use VLC player (free - http://www.videolan.org) to convert audio and video via wizard
or MediaCoder (free - http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/download.htm) plus "Extra Codecs Pack" from same link.
