  1. Hi, I recently formated my computer. Before doing so, I could capture video without any problems.
Now, after re-installing everything, updateing all my drivers I get a problem.

Captureing the video file (using ATI's Rage Fury Pro video card) goes perfect, not a problem. No frames dropped, the timer just keeps going up.
The problem occures when I go to play back the video I just captured. It will play perfect up until around the ten (10) second point. Then it will just keep looping the last few frames over and over. The timer and seaker bar will continue to operate, the sound will still play as nothings wrong. Except for the main part of the video. It just sits there and loops. I looked up the problem in the "help" section, and it said some stuff about reverb, so I think I turned that off. I'm not 100% sure thou.

Does anyone have any idea of this problem? Please help a poor guy out. Thanks!

  2. Alright, new stuff on my problem.
It is still doing the frame loop, but now it will playback around 15 sec.
Everything else stayed the same, the sound still plays, it is only the video playback.

I checked the help section again, and I saw something about Half-Duplex and Full-Duplex. It says to tun on Full-Duplex, but I don't know how to do this. Anyone help?

  4. Since you did not give any info about your method, and most particularly your source, this is just a guess, but -

This sounds EXACTLY like Macrovision from a DVD capture source. There is a patch which works for NT, 2000, and XP to remove Macrovision detection on ATI cards.

  5. Sorry Nelson37... I didn't supply you with enough information. But thanks for your feedback. I will try to give you the information it appears you require.
My method for capturing video when I get this problem is pritty much anyway. I've tryed uncompressed, compressed, sound, no sound, compressed sound, different frame rates, different frame sizes, different just about everything.
I'm recording the video off of my DVD player (I don't have a DVD-ROM, so I use my Standalone DVD Player to play the disk), which is pluged into the "Video IN" (Composite) on my ATI video card. I have tryed different "Standards", but I'm 99.9% sure NTSC is the right one.
My machine is a P4 (Intel) 1.5 GIG, with 256 mb RAM, and a GIGABYTE motherboard. I use Window 98 (SE), so that patch that you suggested would not help if it only workes with NT, 2000, and XP.

Nelson37, or anyone else who can help me out, if there is anymore information that you'd like please just ask. I'd really like to get this fix cuz I want to make a presentation for school. Thanks everyone.

  6. This is definitely Macrovision. Don't recall if the patch worked for me on 98, but something you did earlier solved the problem. The format and re-install unfortunately erased the fix.

A Sima CopyMaster may solve this, works for VCR, $39.95 at Radio Shack.
