This is driving me banana's. For every 3 or 4 avi's I download (legal avi's of course) 1 will always have choppy/stuttery playback on my TV. I've tried playing these Avi's through my DVD player (avi compatible), through my media drive and through my Cowan A2 player. All have the same effect. Tried 2 different (NTSC compatible TV's) same effect. No issues with sound just the playback is choppy (really noticable on fast moving scenes).
Anyone else have this issue? Could post codec info if it'd help?

Check for packed bitstream. Unpack it with MPEG4Modifier.
Other possible issues are GMC, QPEL, too high bitrate, too large a frame size, bad multiplexing, etc. Bad multiplexing can be fixed by remultiplexing. The other problems will require reencoding.

Most likely they are just poorly encoded. Any 90+ minute movie converted into a 700MB avi displays those symptoms, some are just more obvious than others, especially in action sequences, scenes that are dark, or involve smoke/fog/clouds.
