Do you always have to check a film for bad frames first b4 encoding?

If so how many bad frames are acceptable b4 just deleting the film and trying another version as i have downloaded xXx and there was over 200 'bad frames' and 2000 'masked frames'

As in the guide to converting to VCD checking for bad frame was not mentioned.

it is ALWAYS a good idea to check for bad frames before converting.
with that number of bad frames, you probably wouldn't even notice the difference.

Yes, I always check for bad frames first to avoid major problems later.

You're going to lose 2000 frames or about 80 secs. of video. That's not too bad, I've seen a lot worse! It's really your choice, but in this case you probably won't even notice.

I wish some of the guides would include advice to scan and delete bad frames first. It would help beginners avoid lots of problems and cut down on repetitive posts in the Newbie Forum. (Baldrick, are you listening?)

When you say i wont notice the difference do you mean just encode it anyway with the bad frames present, or do you mean use vdub to remove them first?

When i used vdub to remove them and then tried to encode, TMPGEnc kept frezzing and i got this error ,TMPGEnc has caused an error in DIVXDEC.A.X.
I used vdub 1.4 not he vdubmp3, which method is better cos the vdub 1.4 seems easier to use than the other one?

I then decided to encode the film with the bad frames and it encoded first time and the copy wasnt that bad.

    Remove the bad frames first.

Yes regular Vdub is easier, but if you have VBR sound then regular Vdub cannot be used, and you must use Vdub-MP3 and manually edit out the bad frames. However, you can use Vdub-MP3 on non-VBR files and some people think it is better. 8)
