Interesting information, Thanks.
Is there a way to get Histogram running Live whilst using AmarecTv to capture with IOData GV-USB2 or the USB-Live 2. I dont like using VirtualDub for capturing as I feel the captures are better on AmarecTv but I dont have Histogram with it to make adjustments whilst capturing and keeping within the safe range. I tried using Graphedit as suggested here from older post but cant get it to work.

Here's my 32bit filtergraph. Needs LAV filters installed for it to work.

P.S. We shouldn't derail this thread any farther IMO.Last edited by Sharc; 17th Apr 2026 at 03:23.

Update:
I recovered my old GV-USB borrowed to a friend long time ago, so here some pictures of the boxes showing the differences.
For GV-USB2/HQ version the 115 drivers are not available, I used the file provided by Alwin (meaning they are not supposed to be used, when entering the serial number they do not appear in the download list of the official web site).
The GV-USB2 version allows the downloading of all drivers (strange) once its serial number is provided.
In the next weeks I will perform some comparison to add concrete elements to the discussion.

Pry open the new one and show us if it still uses the Techwell/Renesas TW9910 chip as the old one, or something different.

I have a hunch there's no hardware difference between the standard ("DVD") and HD ("BD") versions; it's only the different burning software.
@Lollo, both your boxes show "W11". The earlier versions show "W10". You may find there's no difference between those two you have. Here are my "W10" boxes (the right-hand box has "W10" under the sticker):

I do have a Windows 11 branded IO-Data that I do not use, been meaning to crack it open and post screenshots of the internal chips but I haven't had the time to do so. Busy doing restoration work these days.
If I do crack it open I'll probably make a post on that thread talking about if the new release has a TBC in it or not. -
Well, the additionale software (Ligth Capture and Cyberlink) is available only for the NON HQ version, which is weird.
Yes, I also had the Win 10 version (GV-USB, because the HQ version was not available then). I given it away to my fan club long time ago -

Comparison of IOData GV-USB2 HQ and IOData GV-USB2 captures.
YUV4:2:2, 720x576, HuffYUV, Y/C source, procamp at default except contrast reduced from default 105 to 100, AmaRecTV 3.10.
Very very similar result, except chroma channels marginally "better defined" in GV-USB2. It may be just the effect of different analog capture of the same tape performed at different times.

Conclusion: marginal differences, if any. -
The differences are very subtle, including the excursions into the superbrights and superdarks. I imagine one could compare 2 cards of the same model/version/drivers and get ~similar differences.

... and the TW9910 from RENESAS/Intersil is still alive (package dependent, 32pin NA2 vs 48pin NB2).
