    I am trying to transfer our mini dv tapes to the computer. I grabbed a used mini dv camcorder off ebay. I also got a pcie firewire card from Amaon to hook up the camera to my computer.

    I am trying to use Win DV to transfer the tapes. The issue i am having is that one i transfer the avi file goes away and will not save. I see the file get created but its 0kb.

    Every youtube video i see shows this to just work without issue. So i am trying to figure out where my issue is.

    did you set windv to always "run as admin"? it can't write a file unless it has admin privileges.
