This is Mediainfo of my CFR version. Anyway main thing is it works. Nice show.
    Image
[Attachment 88884 - Click to enlarge]

    VP23 ..
shows end clip position at 13:33;28f
I see now that the audio is at 13:35;24f

So my conforming did this but mediainfo of original is 13:35 when VFR. I wouldn't sweat it anyway, it plays aok.

When I was working with your video.
I first tried a conversion from CLI with FFMPEG.
    I got these errors:

Then with Clever I trued to encode the video stream & got thes errors:

It was after that that I used mp4muxer-0.9.3 to demux & then remux the file.
I believe I was the first to suggest the demux then remux approach.

I worked with the first video posted at https://gofile.me/7qEs1/zTD8rwFpJ.
For me this create a file 10minites 17 seconds duration.
    After videoAI posted this:
    I tried Clever.

I still got 10minites 17 seconds duration from the https://gofile.me/7qEs1/zTD8rwFpJ file.

Then I downloaded the https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/f1ji9bxj3folvgvfadf95/VID_20250909_220502.mp4?rlkey=tic...=wt0l8waq&dl=0 file.
Using Clever Stream extract I demuxed this video. Then Multiplexed it.
This gave the 13 minute 35 second duration.
I was able to go strait to .mp4 with Clever.
So I did not need " Losslesscut for container change back to mp4"
With it I got the 13 minute 35 second duration.
The second downloaded file plays correctly in VLC & both MPCs.

Re the differing lengths, the original GoFile is 14min 2sec, whereas the Dropbox version is 13min 35sec.

  4. @ Alwyn,
How did you determine the legnth of the GoFile ?
Maybe something went wrong with the download I did.
    MediaInfo shows:
Under General 37 hours 11 minutes
Under Video as Duration 37 hours 11 minutes but the Source duration as 14min 2sec.
Under Audio both at 14min 2sec.
The size of the GoFile I downloaded is 1.44GB.
Both Muxer/demuxers I used show 10 minutes 17 seconds when finished.

This is the first time I have seen MediaInfo have Source duration.

I'm downloading the GoFile .mp4 again as it says it is 2GB.
If the download is that size then something must have went wrong when I downloaded it the first time.

Good Day, Cholla, AVISynth and Magix Video Deluxe both gave 14min 2sec for the GoFile. The one I downloaded was 1.96GB. It gives the 37 hours but also the 14min 2 sec.

Your download must have stopped short?

They are different videos. The filenames give it away.

So it has a video and audio duration of 13:35.
After conforming to 30 fps cfr before extracting streams and muxing it changes to 13m:33s.

The conforming process shortens the video by ~ 2 seconds.

I just now realised that it's unnecessary to extract streams and mux.

Once the original is simply conformed to 30 fps from vfr to cfr it plays fine in both vlc and mpc video+audio.

So all OP needs to do is conform originals. Shutter encoder, Handbrake etc can do that.

Thank you very much all of you for your contributions and investigations. One question remains though. Is this due to an issue with my mobile, do you believe? Is it time to change phone I wonder...

I suspect, guess, it's the nightscape mode that you selected that was a step too far for vlc etc.

I don't think there is a phone recording issue, its simply that VFR is difficult so best to convert to CFR if not playable.

Are the non Nightscape modes playable by vlc without vfr to cfr conversion?

How are you conforming it to CFR?

Hi Alwyn. I rolled my own ffmpeg batch util some time ago.
Basically it sends to raw bucket then brings back in, no quality loss.

I assume Handbrake etc gives similar.

It comes out 2 seconds shorter duration but I guess that's to do with the vfr 2 cfr conversion.

Most of my utils are in exe etc and so can cause false positives so not much point in uploading.
If its of interest or useful I can make available the cfr version of OP's video clip.

I had a lot of trouble with HB; it would open the file but I couldn't get it to convert it. It was incredibly slow and VLC Player would only play the audio, not the video (I set it up for H264, 30 CFR). The output file was only 90MB.

It takes about 18 seconds on my laptop, VFR to CFR. I'm adding ConformFR.exe plus conformed file (1.9GB) to dropbox. When it's uploaded I'll post a download link.

If you have issues (false positives) with my exe util, I understand. It's a batch file, Obfuscated, then converted to exe using Advanced Bat to exe. Actually to speed things up I'll put exe by itself into zip, it may upload faster. I'll later add the bigger zip.

    https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/b6o3qkgp8ku07lhxt1fr7/ConformFR.zip?rlkey=jkzs56p9jf7j0...4ehnbqdmn&dl=0
    This is the ConformFR.exe link.

  20. Howdy Alwyn ,
On the second download I just used Clever.
I works OK with VLC & MPC.
    After using Clever only.
The first download is like you posted VLC only plays the audio.
MPC will play both audio & video OK.

I had to download an older version of Shutter Encoder for 32-bit.
It did the frame rate change to 30 but the file remained VFR.
This was the first time I used Shutter Encoder so I may have missed a setting.
I did not care for the GUI & already deleted Shutter Encoder.

    Mess in frame properties:

    Code:

If I'm reading this correctly, the video starts 37 hours after the audio. And the MPC even plays it correctly, from the 37th hour
You need to reset the video frame times.

    ffmpeg -i VID_20250909_220502.mp4 -map 0:v -c copy video.mp4
    ffmpeg -i VID_20250909_220502.mp4 -map 0:a -c copy audio.mp4
    ffmpeg -i video.mp4 -i audio.mp4 -map 0:v -map 1:a -c copy correct.mp4

    Voila.

On the second download I just used Clever.
Gday Cholla, I tried that but got lost trying to convert both the video and audio together into an MP4.

I just run it through Video Deluxe and all is well.

I have uploaded two CFR versions of this clip: https://files.fm/u/qjwsyds45q

One ("prefer video") contains all frames, time-aligned to the average framerate (but desync sometimes reaches 13 frames=~0.4s). The other ("prefer sync") is a version with dropped frames (where the framerate was high) and interpolated frames (where the framerate was low), no dups.
