  1. In the sample video (warning, flashing image), this is head clogging, which is caused by the tapes, right? I worry that something might be damaged, as I see this drastic dropout somewhat often (although for a way shorter period), and recapturing is dropout-free.

    I ask because I haven't yet seen clogging or whatever this extreme on other VCRs.

    Seems like it hit a patch of something on the tape that wiped on the head. You say you played the tape again and had no problems on the same part of tape. Seems like it was just dirt of some kind and it cleaned itself fine.

  3. Had been thinking of the same thing. Still, I hope it's not vcr's fault, but now I can have a little less worry.

    It can be anything such as dust or dirt got on the tape so no permanent damage.
