I'm pretty sure the TBC only works during playback but I stand to be corrected. Hop into the settings to make sure it is on.
I can't find both in the settings, i actually went back and looked at the manual and i see that this manual is for a few models - CCD-TRV3E/TRV15E/TRV23E/TRV35E/TRV65E. Not just the TRV23E. And in the TBC section it says "TRV65E only". I can't tell if they mean it's only the option to turn it on/off, or the existence/absence of TBC.

Ok, I stand corrected. That doesn't change anything at the moment: you still need to replace that Ezcap box.

If the camera plays tapes OK in the viewfinder and directly onto the TV, it will be OK to capture from. The only unknown will be if it is stable enough or if you will need a stabiliser (camcorder with TBC or a ES-10/15). But that can come later.

Hauppauge USB-Live 2 requires lineTBC correction and Y/C input . Let's see what you get...

What do you mean? I see it does have also RCA connections, will it not work with my camcorder?

It will work, but its comb filter is poor, so no optimal results. You are also missing a lineTBC correction.

I see, so will the GV USB2 really be that much better? I can still cancel the order

We have a comparison between the 2 cards in the forum. In optimal condition Live-2 is slightly better, but with instable signals GV-USB is better but not excellent, because a lineTBC correction is needed for both.
Concerning RCA input they are simular, sligthly better the GV-USB2. Even for this case, the optimal is feeding the cards with Y/C signal.

Given your player, I would swap the order from Hauppauge to IOData. If you plan to change your player keep the Hauppauge

Roger that, yeah I’m not really gonna get a different camcorder, too complicated.
    Changed to the GV USB.

You'll also need something like this to split your mono audio from your camcorder into two channels (still mono) for your GV-USB2 (all digitisers have RCA sockets/female connectors):

Guys, i just got the GV-USB2 and i managed to get it to work with Amarec.
The issue is, i can capture the video with AMV4/LAGS codecs which are apparently not common formats and the main point of the capturing i'm doing is to be able to watch it anywhere with friends and family(TV, PC, etc). What do i need to do in order to make it use a more common codec?

VLC Player will be able to play your file if it is in LAGS format. If it can't, we need to see the details of your captured file. Download and install Mediainfo. When you first start it, just Click OK on the Preferences screen.

Open your file in it, go to View>Text View, and copy and paste the whole screen here.

In general terms, you have done step one, which is to capture your video.

The next step is to save it as an MP4, which you'll be able to share around. But you have to get it opened first.

  18. Eventually i converted the files to mp4 using Handbrake. Here's the comparison, looks much better. Pay attention to the FPS.

I apologize for asking a question unrelated to the original poster but has anyone ever used a Hauppauge capture device along with the Hauppauge Capture software? I’m having an issue and I feel it’s about to give me an ulcer. I could really use some advise from someone.
