Tag h.264 as BT.709 in Handbrake GUI

In HandBrake GUI, under the Video tab, inside the Extra Options edit box, if I enter this string: colorprim=smpte170m:transfer=smpte170m:colormatrix =smpte170m the Color primaries, Transfer characteristics and Matrix coefficients are all BT.601.

If I enter colorprim=bt709:transfer=bt709:colormatrix=bt709, I get Primaries BT.601 PAL, Transfer BT.709, and Matrix BT.709.

If I enter --colorprim "bt709" --transfer "bt709" --colormatrix "bt709", I get Primaries BT.601 PAL, Transfer BT.709, and Matrix BT.601.

Can anyone tell me what string to enter to get all three set to BT.709, please.

Use clever FFmpeg-GUI, then you don't need to enter anything by hand.

If I enter colorprim=bt709:transfer=bt709:colormatrix=bt709, I get Primaries BT.601 PAL, Transfer BT.709, and Matrix BT.709.

That worked for me on a random source when I tried Handbrake GUI

Default (blank)

Color primaries : BT.601 NTSC
Transfer characteristics : BT.709
Matrix coefficients : BT.601

colorprim=bt709:transfer=bt709:colormatrix=bt709

Color primaries : BT.709
Transfer characteristics : BT.709
Matrix coefficients : BT.709


Maybe some issues with your source ? The VUI parameters should be overriden by the commands

Maybe old handbrake version ?
