  1. Is there a program that let's me view/extract individual video fields from a DVD or any interlaced video for that matter?

    But why ?

    Extract one or either field and you get half of the picture.

  3. Yes, but with 50/60Hz video, a full frame would either be heavily processed or show two interleaved frames together (which is a mess).

    VirtualDub with MPEG2 plugin. Add deinterlace filter in "discard fields" mode and you get (half) the raw fields of the video, without any processing (well, except for a YV12->RGB conversion obviously).

  5. In VirtualDub, Deinterlace with duplicate, discard, bob, fold side-by-side. Or use Bob Doubler.

    Beware, VirtualDub does not handle interlaced YV12 video properly. It will blend together the chroma channels of the two fields.

    In AviSynth: Bob(), SeparateFields().

    I guess that works, but I still can't advance field by field.

    Use the double frame rate option in the same dialog.
