I am trying to rip my hunger games to my server. I use AnyDVD HD i have the latest version (7.0.9.0) and i use BDinfo v.0.5.8 and tsMuxer 1.10.6.
The rip is successful. I get only the movie and the audio/video/subtitles i want. I watched the whole movie but there were these flash forwards that seemed odd through out the whole movie.
So after the movie i popped in the original blu-ray and sure enough the flash forwards were not part of the movie. i ripped it several times using different mpls playlist files and every time it adds those flash forwards.
the time of the movie itsself according to the disk is 2hrs 22mins. most of the mpls play list show up at 2:25 the extra minutes is from the flash forwards. so i go and find the play list thats 2:22 and it still rips the 2:25 version. is this a new type of protection?? any ideas? thanks!!

The trial version should be fully functional for some days (30? dont know exactly). I don't know of any limitations within this period of time. But better check out http://www.dvdfab.com first for further details.

Latest AnyDVD HD is 7.0.9.2 Beta: http://club.myce.com/f88/anydvd-hd-7-0-9-2-beta-discussion-thread-329460/#.UGiQhaPQvYM
And the free section within DVDFab, called DVDFab HD Decrypter, has no time limitations. It just doesn't have all the functions of the full commercial program, and is usually slower on updates. -
thanks for responses...ill try dvdfab see what happens and ill check out the beta of AnyDVD its weird the way the movie rips. everything was perfectly fine except it kept showing this same 15 second part starting at around 9 minutes and through out the movie. than that part happened and it wasnt really anything special thats what made me check out the movie straight off the disc. i wonder if this is just a glitch or if some how its a strange copyright thing but it doesnt really affect the movie...i dont know its strange...

You probably just need an update for your decrypter.
Why don't you run AnyDVDHD in the background and see if Clown_BD can extract main movie without the glitches you mentioned. I'd be very interested to see if it does work. It's disentangled main movie for me from a complex BD-J disc when tsMuxer (and BDRB) could not.
To elaborate: Sometimes a movie spans multiple .m2ts files, as you know if you're using BDinfo to find out which .mpls to load into tsMuxer. A deliberately over-complex structure with BD-J menus can cause .m2ts files to be joined in the wrong order, or include extraneous junk .m2ts files. Offhand, I recall WALL_E was like that, although Clown_BD could extract main movie accurately, even without updating my decrypter. And IIRC, one of the Last Harry Potter movies as well..
Anyway, hope you try it and post back. Good luck.Pull! Bang! Darn! -
ok so all those options appeared to have worked. dvdfab ,clown_bd and the beta of anydvdhd the weird thing is that at the same time that the movie usually had the flash forwards it now has little glitches in the video. like it wants to flash forward but its not there to do so any more? weird...so i guess im going to have to rethink the way i rip my movies....thanks everyone!!
i looks like my dvdfab is counting down the days...would you guys recommend i just use Clown_BD and will less likely run into this problem? All i want is main title, main subtitle and best audioLast edited by carlos28355; 5th Oct 2012 at 22:02.

Does the main movie contain DTS-HD MA audio? I've heard about tsMuxer not being able to demux DTS-HD MA audio properly in certain cases. If so, try demuxing with HdBrStreamExtractor, it uses eac3to. Then remux back with tsMuxer and see if that helps.
The DTS MA stream can have gaps/overlaps on seamless branched disks. Then you can try to demux to uncompressed lpcm, but you'll need a dtshd ma decoder.Last edited by Ennio; 9th Oct 2012 at 10:51.

Even if it couldnt demux that audio in some cases would that cause what happened in this case? There was about a 10 second clip from towards the end of the movie that would randomly play throughout the entire movie.
im sure what you said to do is more likely to have less problems it just seems like a lot more steps than i want to take. with the way i was doing it it there was really only 3 steps....open and run BDinfo than open and run tsMuxer than use imgburn to create an iso...any recommendation with less steps and more accurate results? thanks again! -
tsMuxer can have issues, even when the right playlist is chosen. HdBrStreamExtractor and Eac3to helped me out many times. In my experience it's sometimes necessary to take a few more or other steps. So, to your question: no, I don't know of any ways with less steps and accurate results, sorry. Maybe other people do.
I must admit I never encountered this specific problem you describe. But then, I always first rip the entire blu-ray to harddrive and go further from there.
Good luck

Yes, the common denominator is eac3to. (Clown_BD is another front-end for it).
Mind you, tsMuxer has no problem muxing clean elementary streams, it's extracting elementary streams that is not completely reliable. Interactive BD-J disc structures with features like PiP, and sometimes the main audio track can trip it up.
Just yesterday I finally got Doctor Zhivago on BD. The main DTS-MA track required 3 passes by eac3to extract correctly; due to audio "overlaps" according to the log. This was not a decryption problem.
I usually extract main movie with Clown_BD and DVDFabPasskey running in the background, direct from disc, and it never fails. So, while many prefer to rip the entire disc first, I don't think that's strictly necessary.Pull! Bang! Darn! -
You're not the only one that has had this, I downloaded the same movie from a BT site it had exactly the same problem as you describe... reacquired it from a different source without the problem.

What do you mean by "3 passes"', fritzy93? You mean try 3 times? And did you rip as DTSHD or else?
I don't know if it's necessary. It's a habit of mine. I had a blu-ray once from "DFW", Dutch Film Works. Don't remember the title, it was long ago. Strange thing to remember is I only managed to extract the main streams when I de-encrypted as ISO and mount it. Decrypting as folder structure didn't work. It wasn't a 3D disc. But, DFW enjoyed to have a bad reputation in the past for not authoring dvd's properly. I avoid their BD's also. They are often seen in the "throw away bins" at large consumer electronics stores for a couple of euros (here in the Netherlands).
My guess is that Hollywood will continue to encrypt their BD's to newer standards every time again. With maybe the possibility that BD-players won't play them anymore? I can remember having Sony or CBS audio-cd's so badly f*cked up that my cd-transport refused them to play.
Cheers

@Ennio:
I always re-encode to AC3 to save more space for the video. That way, many times a main movie backup will fit on a BDR without re-encoding. And when I make an MKV for playing from hard drive to TV, I need AC3 because the TV's optical out will downconvert DTS to 2 channel PCM.
When I say 3 passes, it goes like this: During the first pass, there's a warning about the audio and a notice that another pass will be necessary. Any further passes are fairly quick, as it's the audio only. I don't recall seeing 3 passes very often. Usually when there's a problem, it'll be something like "sync byte missing", "sync byte discontinuity", "clipping detected", or "audio overlap".
I can't say with certainty that sometimes the disc itself wasn't at fault. I always rip with my BD-ROM, and switch to my BD-RE drive when there's a problem. *Most* times I get the same error messages. It doesn't happen often, but I've seen it at least a dozen times. Those instances when I did not get the error message with my BD-RE may be down to my Lite-On BD-ROM not being a good reader.
Then again, it may be that eac3to finds problems that other methods/tools may let pass, and the result is playable anyway. I dunno. But just to take the "clipping detected" error, indicates to me there may be some sloppily done audio tracks being produced, and they're usually DTS-MA.
Multi-channel PCM can definitely be a problem for tsMuxer. If memory serves, that has to do with buffering.Last edited by fritzi93; 11th Oct 2012 at 08:19.

I had problems with hunger games too, But after DVDFAB was updated it took care of the problems, I always check size of main movie with DVDFAB then rip the whole blu-ray to hard drive then recheck size of main movie with BDinfo, If movie is too large then I shrink it to a BD25 with BDRebuilder, fritzi93, when you re-encode to AC3 is the audio as good as the original and does it still have good surround sound?
-
thanks everyone for your input ill check out other ways to rip the main movie (=

Well, no, strictly speaking. You're re-encoding with a lossy codec. Not that I can hear any difference.
I've read that blind tests have been done that show AC3 5.1 is essentially "transparent" at 640 kbps (max bitrate). Meaning it's indistinguishable from lossless audio. Even if there are people with supposed "golden ears", you'd still need top of the line audio equipment. Which I don't. Decent, but not top of the line.Pull! Bang! Darn!
