Hello.
I noticed that when updating PotPlayer the settings will be erased and I'll have to tweak things again.
In Preferences there's a button saying Export Presets. I clicked and it created a Register file in My Documents.
As I understand when I install a new version of the player I can use this file to restore my chosen settings. Am I right?
Thanks in advance.

Don't mess around with installers and automagic updates, just make PotPlayer "portable"

You can view and extract the contents of PotPlayer's installer with 7-Zip.Originally posted by leeperry (clicky)
Personally, I've deleted all the files in PotPlayer's folder except for PotPlayerMini.exe, PotPlayer.dll and the skin file I'm using...this ensures that ffdshow/madFlac/LAV CUVID Decoder are doing all the decoding. This seems to break DVD playback, so use w/ caution. -

I just erased my settings on purpose and then used the file created with Export Presets. Yes, it restored all my previous settings.

I have used both the .ini and .reg methods with success.
However, I have not experienced the loss of configuration when updating or installing a new versionLast edited by OldGeek; 5th Aug 2012 at 06:34.

Thanks very much for this! I was frustrated how PotPlayer often returned to default settings on updates.
In case anyone else wonders what to do:
1. In PotPlayer, press F5 to open the Preferences.
2. Click the "Export Presets" button at the bottom of the Preferences window. You're prompted to save a .reg file containing your current settings.
3. After you save the file, quit PotPlayer and install the new version.
4. Right-click the .reg file. In the pop-up menu that appears, click "Merge"; then click Yes when asked if you want to proceed. Your settings are restored.
(BTW, re the custom skins: They're very well-done, but I totally don't get why anyone would want a distractingly light-colored border around their player... Maybe if you're just playing audio?)
