    hi,
the title isn't quite good but I'l try to explain:

the movie: 60fps, progressive, 1920x1080, 25Mbits - more or less
    the notebook: gma 500, atom z550, 2GHz

I'm using mpc-hc and cannot play that video with original speed.

When I force ffdshow dxva decoder the frames are being dropped but the screen goes gray from time to time so that doesn't look good.
coreAvc - the fastest decoder but plays too slow - is irt possible to drop frames with it?
lav - the same as above

So maybe there's a way to reduce the frames from 60 to 30 "on the fly" during playback (to speed it up)?
or that's just the limit of gma500 and nothing can be done?

    thanks.

Editing? Nope, moving you to our software playing section.

I don't think you will find any good solution for this...other than reconvert the video.

  4. Try turning off the deblocking filter in CoreAvc. Try both "skip when safe" and "skip always". That will give you lower quality but may be fast enough to play smoothly.

    Hi,
I tried your sugestions but it did not help.
Looks like there is only ffdshow dxva remaining which drops frames thus makes the playback fast enough (but it makes some artefacts as well)

Try smplayer. Yank those crappy 3rd party codecs, good software doesn't need it. SMplayer has its own enable/disable deblocking switch built in. VLC may too, I'm not sure.

vlc is useless on slow computer.

i've been using mplayer for a long time already - unfortunately it cannot handle that video (2~4 fps).
But I was not able to make mplayer use dxva. if someone has some experience with it I'd be glad to listen.

Splash! Lite might work. On my Atom/ION HTPC it seems to use the least resources.
