can't scroll through movie

pretty much like it says, i tried every player i have(gom, MPC, windows) and none allows me to scroll other than all way back.....so.....how i fix it....oh, it's a .wmv file!

Select the wmv file, add it to the input list, click cut/copy/join, play the new asf/wmv:

Yes, that's for the GUI (asfbinwin) version; if for whatever reason you want to use the command-line version (asfbin), use:

asfbin -i <input file> -o <output file>

Keep in mind for either version that .asf, in this case, is the same thing as .wmv. (Generally, Microsoft started using .wma to identify audio files, and .wmv for videos. Before, both simply used .asf.)

Also, for some reason, when I experimented with asfbinwin/asfbin this morning, simply re-indexing a video, the resulting clips would only play in Windows Media Player. I probably need to enable the Windows Media codecs in ffdshow...
