I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate/64-bit, and I can't get media player classic to play ISO movie files.
This is something that's worked for years in Windows XP.
I've tried a half dozen newer versions of K-lite codec pack, including the 64-bit version.

Use VLC.
Problem solved.
Stop killing your computer with codec packs. Those just make a mess.
Hopefully major damage hasn't already been done.
You'd be wise to uninstall all of that junk.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I use Virtual Clone Drive and MPC HC to watch ISOs. ISOs are associated with VCD and MPC HC association is set to play DVDs, so one click and the ISO is playing.

No. That's what brings me here.
MPC played ISO file movies in XP, so it would seem that it only requires the right codec for it to do so in Win 7.
I like the general setup of MPC, and i'll be sticking with it even if it means recoding the iso's to avi files. -
.....recording ISO's to AVI files.
OK then....you've got all the answers.
Have a nice day.
