Hi, I want to grab the news report video from this website (http://www.wftv.com/news/20021782/detail.html), because I was on the flight featured in the report and would like to keep the video. I've tried several addons for firefox to try and capture it, but they can only find the short advertisements that appear before the actual report and not the main feature at all.

Firstly, why and how can't any of the usual "Video Downloader" plugins find the video/flv file, and is this website's video streamer designed this way on purpose (to prevent capture)?

Secondly, is there ANY method that will allow me to get the video in its full form. Any format will do, I can just convert them. I want to avoid resorting to using a 'screen capture' program to to record it, because I've tried it with several other items and can't get a good framerate, nor can I get my Stereo Mix configured to record the audio with them.

    Thanks.

Most ordinary downloaders can't download streaming flash video. Try instead streamtransport or replay media catcher. If that wont work use a screen capture tool like replay video capture.

StreamTransport worked great. I'll be keeping that bit of software to hand.

    Thanks very much.

Well in the time I downloaded your video using StreamTransport ... you were doing the same.
In the past ... I've used ... Bitcomet and Cometbird ... for downloading FLV videos from ... uhm uhm ... adult sites.

So ... okay ... this should be easy ... but I can understand your frustation ... my method didn't work.

So ... I fired up ST and yep ... no problem getting the video ... and that is using IE8 ... instead of Cometbird and Bitcomet.

    (First post -- be gentle!)

I looked up your video and was able to capture it just fine via WM Recorder 14. It's not a free app, but I found it so useful I decided to buy it. But I'll definitely add StreamTransport to my collection.

First post and already breaking the rules talking about using "cracked" software

Sorry. Edited my post. I was just trying to emphasize that the software was worth the money I spent on it.

(And really, a PM wouldn't suffice?)
