Hi,
I'm capturing VHS and Hi-8 using a Canopus ADVC-100 and iMovie 09. I'm a bit confused about iMovie 09 and single field processing and when it comes into play in the chain of capturing. It's my understanding that single field processing doesn't come into play until you export or share projects from iMovie 09 and has nothing to do with capturing. So am I correct in assuming that it doesn't matter if I capture my VHS through iMovie 09, iMovie HD, or Final Cut Express? Or will the quality somehow be better when capturing through iMovie HD and FCE due to single field processing somehow affecting my captures in iMovie 09?
When does single field processing of iMovie 09 kick in? At the capture end of the chain or not until the export/sharing? I just don't want to put in hours of capturing only to find that I should have used iMovie HD or FCE. I only want the files on my mac in DV format at this time, I'm not worried about DVDs or sharing online at this point. Will capturing in iMovie 09 yield just as good of results for capturing to DV as iMovie HD or FCE?
Thanks in advance,
Eric
