    DivX Converter Audio Problems

I have a (obscure) HD Player by Hyundai. It will play avi, divx, mpg2 but not mkv files. I have been coverting the mkv files with divx converter but have come across a snag.
If the mkv has 5.1 ac3 audio then the resulting divx file also has 5.1 ac3 audio. However divx converter can't handle mkv files with DTS audio so I extract the dts audio using mkv extract and then using Tranzcode.Gui and Wav to Ac3 Gui I get a 5.1 ac3 audio file that I can add back to the original mkv file using mkvmerge.gui. When I use divx converter on the new mkv file the resulting audio is mp3 joint stereo.
    Anyone any ideas?

You could try popcorn mkv audio converter and then divx converter.

Or try other mkv to avi divx/xvid converts like mkv2avi.

    Re: DivX Converter Audio Problems

Thanks. Will give both a try.

Tried mkv2avi but unfortunately I had no mkv's with dts only mkv's with my "home produced" ac3 audio. The result produced a hd avi file with, according to mediainfo, a 5.1 ac3 audio track. However when I played it back there was no sound. So it appears the problem is with what I've been using to convert 5.1 dts to 5.1 ac3.
Will have to wait for an mkv with dts before I can try the popcorn audio converter.
    Further update:
Extracted 5.1 dts audio from an mkv file and converted to 5.1 ac3 audio using XviD2PSP. Muxed the ac3 back into the mkv file and converted using divx converter. Again I got mp3 stereo output.
I then tried the 5.1 ac3 muxed mkv file in mkv2avi and got the desired result, an hd avi file with 5.1 ac3 audio.
Only draw back is mkv2avi is quite slow.
Am now going to try it in PopCorn Audio Converter.

Now use popcorn mkv audio converter and mkv2avi all the time with a little Nero Wave Editor thrown in when the audio is AAC.
    Many thanks for your suggestions.
