Hi, I've been searching for a few weeks to find a freeware program that can do what I need. But I've had no luck so I thought Id try posting. I have clips (MPEG2/AC3 for DVD) and I need to be able to cut frames out, and also I need to be able to rotate certain frames 90 degrees, then have it go back to normal display, then rotate another section of the clip 90 degrees. I need to be able to do all this on the same clip and Id like to use one program to do it.

But I haven't been able to find a free program that can do it. Virtualdub can only save as AVI I guess, and Avidemux can't apply the rotate filter to just a certain section of frames. I think Avisynth has a plugin for rotate, but I can't do scripts. I just need a program that can do all this stuff to a MPEG2 clip all at the same time. Im trying to avoid using several different programs, one that just cuts, one that just rotates, because then Id have to cut my clip into a bunch of parts, do the rotate on parts, then glue it all back together. If anybody can suggest something that can do what I need, Id be grateful. Thanks.

That's likely what you would have to do. The frame size would be wrong on the rotated parts anyway and they would have to be resized/letter boxed/trimmed/re-encoded besides to conform. And very few editors may be able to do rotations within a clip. Even less likely freeware ones, especially without running some sort of a script.

But others may have some ideas.

    And welcome to our forums.

  3. Recent builds of avidemux can apply filters to segments, but I'm not sure how well it works. Hit the "partial" button in the filter dialog box

I would do this with avisynth

Hey, thanks for the replies. Avidemux crashes when I try to do the rotate filter on segments of the clip. I tried posting on their forum about it and a guy there said the program probably can't do it right now.

I guess it's looking like I will just have to cut the clip into parts and mess with it that way. Or figure out how to use Avisynth! Thanks again for your comments guys.
