I am trying to convert Divx files using Virtualdub, is there any way of getting better quality MP3 encoding than - 56k at 22khz, thats all my system will give me, seems quite poor... any codec suggestions....
I know i can do this outside of virtualdub, but i would prefer to do it inside...

are you using XP, isn't that the rate limit of the XP built-in codec? Sounds to me like you need to find and install a better mp3 codec. Try the Nimo codec pack in the tools section.

Nimo what's that
Once you have done the above, you might like to save out the WAV and load into www.goldwave.com (With MP3 plug-ins) and edit the sound (Maximize) check right and left channels are the same etc.. -
