    hi folks,

i am noticing vlc doing funny things since i installed these components. in particular, it keeps switching to a transparent mode which i then have to set back over the menu. iīve never had that before and it is quite nasty.

so, rumplestiltskin, you finally reached your goal of estranging me with vlc.

i tried to uninstall perian to see if this will resolve this new problem. the uninstall routine i can start over settings will properly run but the perian symbol will not disappear which makes me think it is somehow still installed. and vlc keeps switching to the transparent mode so i can see the screen content through the movie. however, if i want to see whatīs on the screen, i simply stop the movie.

any suggestions on how to fix that? since this never occured before the installing of these components i think it is save to assume itīs got to do with these components.

VLC and Perian should not be interfering with each other. VLC uses its own internal codecs, and wouldn't use any Quicktime components installed, including Perian.

I believe VLC has an option to reset its preferences (can't remember where it is in the options, and I'm nowhere near a system with VLC installed, so I can't check ), otherwise, you could try manually deleting VLC's preferences (only if you couldn't find it in the options). That might resolve the problem you're having with VLC.

    thanx, Ai Haibara,

resetting is not the problem. i know where to reset it, but vlc keeps occasionally putting the transparent mode on. maybe it will grow out of it sooner or later ...

btw, i love your motto. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? must say i donīt get quite it though.

    give me a hint?

    hi again,

anyone knows how to fix an offset that is not constant over the entire movie? i see that qtsync not only allows changing the offset but also has an option for adjusting the duration of audio or video tracks. however, qtsync wonīt open some files that avidemux does but in avidemux i see no option to adjust a trackīs length. i could maybe extract the audio and then manipulate it with audacity and then reimport it but judging by your previous expertise on my questions am quite sure you guys have long figured out something smarter than that.

iīm all ears if youīre still there.

It has to do with an old saying/belief about how people may look on television.
(It's not a motto, though. It's just my signature line.)
